How did you upscale to 1080p? I know only about waifu2x, but it's suitable only for pictures. Is it possible to upscale Toshi Densetsu Series like this?

try Video2x this uses wifu2x but is pretty slow about 10x longer than the video runtime alternatively use Topaz Video Enhance AI which is 5x slower

Why are people happy with this? It's a bad upscale where a lot of detail is lost because thin lines and sharp edges get smudged and smoothed out, surface textures disappear, linework on characters become too soft, and edges that are supposed to be sharp have become rounded such as eyelashes etc. On some frames even the shading is completely removed and it looks like shit. Here's a comparison of this upload (01) vs DVD release (02) (safe image): / recommend just getting the DVD release instead.
