Thank you again sir. Btw what is your take on how moddable the rebranded team Illgames'....next game will be?
While I believe we're asking a wrong person, since PACKERs are not MODDERs; this however, probably the only lead to the answers people are seeking...

Well, I do have opinions as well uglywolf :P As luck would have it, I have done a little post on the topic already: / taken a peek inside it and flagged the use of several asset store plugins, key interesting asset for me is Magica Cloth, so will probably see quite a bit better cloth animation. But the lack of modding capability will probably take this one the way of RoomGirl. Made a lot of posts on my discord as well, if you want my thoughts and whining in real time, feel free to join, invite is up in the information link for my torrents :)
Im actually kinda supportive of them claiming ownership of the mods because it at least tries to tackle the issue Ive had for a while with koikatsu. Wanna look for new mods? Price tag, Price tag, Price tag, Patreon membership. Almost every new chara mod that I see now has a price attached to it, including the shit ones, and it came to a point where it feels like im browsing nft store rather than game mods, so it makes sense to me that theyre trying to kill this shit. That said, its a bit too little too late. Not only this doesnt actually change anything for Koikatsu itself (im assuming new ToS affects new game only), it will only do anything for the new game if people actually make mods for it....which they will not if they can continue making easy money in koikatsu...

### TeaToasterBaginns Well, I kinda get where you're coming from, but no. The reason you're having that impression is probably that the open resources are so easy to get going, you never really need to go looking for it. You got a rapid flow of BetterRepack and HF-Patches implementing up2date sets of free plugins, free mods... all that good stuff. When you need to go looking for something, it's more often than not something that cannot for whatever reason be included in the packs that "everyone" use, so it gives a bad impression of the whole thing, but mark my word, MOST OF IT ARE FREELY SHARED, and most modders even hang around the discord and help users, and even help new modders get started. The communities for these games are absolutely a thing of beauty, and something most studios would look at with envy. The vast majority of the modding community for Koikatsu and HoneySelect2, at current, are following one of these two models (or a combination of the two): 1. Free distribution Self explanatory. Posted on Discord, on their patreons under a free tier etc. Very open stuff, this is the majority of the modding community. 2. Timed exclusivity They may close their mods to their patreons for a limited time. I do think you fundamentally misunderstand here, they're not really going for the jugular just for the people you don't like. They're actively attacking modding in general. And IL2CPP, though likely incidental, is a major help for them in that direction. That means no wideslider/sliderunlocker, no abmx, no sideloader, no undencorselector..... without those neat mods, the value of the game plummets, the games success absolutely depend on there forming a robust community around it. By all rights, all illusion games should be dead now, roomgirl and older, but KK, KKS, HS2... they still live on, and that is entirely the credit if those games' communities and modders. In short, this is a tone deaf business decision.
Going to have to agree with TeaToasterBaginns in this one, the paywalls have slowly but surely been encroaching on the game and I don't think it's a healthy direction either. Of course they should not be killing off modding and claiming full ownership of 3rd party content is overkill, but it doesn't mean that they shouldn't try to rein in the rampant monetization at all. It's easy to get the impression of almost everything being free if you hang out in the English communities like the KK Discord you mention, but if you hop over to the Japanese content creators on Pixiv for example you're going to find yourself paywalled by a fanbox after another.
sell the game roughly mid, 30$. let the fans keep the game alive, easy access to files all ILLGames has to do. but this 'anime' title honeycome is gonna bomb, due to IL2CPP...then they are going to make another 3-4 3D (in a row, non anime, 3 probably with IL2CPP before they stop that shit) that also bomb. it's the cycle of illusion... 5th release will probably be an AA3 or KK2

I strongly disagree Kryo. I am very much alive in the Chinese and Japanese parts of this community as well. Sure, it's more restrictive over there, but that's not on the modders. Some Japanese modders seem genuinely afraid of going to jail over modding, which is... horrible. Comparing with the western communities, they're at kinda a HongFire period, heavy restrictions applied, some only shared in ingroups etc etc Even if it were as bad as you state, which I contest it's absolutely not, the end result of this all is less mods (even less than IL2CPP causes). People have limited time on this earth, the introduction of monetary exchanges allows some people to spend more time on making mods that at the end of the day gains us all. Of course the introduction of money into the equation makes a lot of opportunists drop by, but in that case it's either paywalled mods or no mods, so is it really a loss to not get access? when the alternative is that the work does not exist? I support other creators if I like their work, paywall or not, but I steer well clear of opportunists, and I, quite frankly, don't feel like I'm missing much. Like that one creator that actually created DRM for his mods? Fuck 'im, I'm good without. I firmly believe in free sharing, information wants to be free and all that, but the realities of it is that people need food on the table, and earning some money of their passions is perfectly fine with me. again, the big picture is getting lost here, Illusion is trying to assert complete control of everything made in and for this game. Character cards, screenshots.... All a legal nonsense imo, but the intent is what is worrying me. Add to that a bit of calling home shenanigans and this whole rebranding thing, which kinda cut short support for games of a recent date and promises of availability for downloads of their games... well... I am not impressed, if you are cheering them on, let's agree to disagree.
I noticed that on this version of the repack I'm suffering from a weird dithering effect on character skin, most noticeable on their foreheads, for example: / The previous version of the repack I've used was RX16 and this was not present there so something must've changed in the meantime. Is there any way to fix this?

hmm... that's probably nHaruka's KK_ShadowQualitySettings v0.9 or nHaruka's KK_SofterSelfShadowing v2.2... probably the latter You can open KKManager and try to disable them as you see fit... Maybe throw it in optional for the next version, if more people don't like it, for future versions...
Thanks, it was indeed KK_SofterSelfShadowing. I tried playing around with its settings and some of them helped mitigate the issue without outright disabling it, but usually at the cost of otherwise ruining the look the plugin is going for, it's a game of trade-offs. It definitely seems like something that might be better off as optional as it feels more like a plugin you might twiddle around for a specific screenshot and the default look out-of-the-box is pretty off-putting, assuming it looks the same on all machines. I noticed at least one other person on the KK discord post about the same issue. Edit: Also noticed some slightly weird behavior with the shadows like some banding/sawblade edges after taking it off, might be KK_ShadowQualitySettings is also doing something, but it's not as obvious and I'm not as 100% sure if I'm not just imagining things, going to have to test it a bit more too.

noted. I'll move it to optional on next update, and meanwhile I'll inform the helpers in discord :)
will you make repack for Illusion retro game (maybe we could call that) at this point like sexy beach 2-3, arificial girl 3, des blood 4, etc and such, also with mods? I've been trying to modify some stuff but doesn't really understand how it worked, and since hongfire is dead long ago, I can't find any source and material for modding these old game

Yes, I am looking into the whole of illusions and teatimes back catalogue. SB3 is currently on my table, and I've figured out how to make it run, so can pretty much confirm that one.
